Dr. Jerry Wu

This web site has NOT been updated for a long time.

I am a staff scientist at EMBL European Bioinformatics Institute since 2010.

Before joining EBI, I worked with Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, Wellcome Trust Sager Institute and BBSRC Silsoe Research Institute, as a senior research scientist and computer officer, with interdisciplinary research and development experience on computational image analysis, statistics data analysis, high-throughput biomedical screening, bioinformatics, systems biology, pattern recognition and machine learning, plus strong programming, math and statistics skills; Always enthusiastic and open to challenges in new technologies.

I am a member of IEEE, IAPR, SPIE, BMVA and IASTED.

What's new?
Who am I?

I won British Council Research Exchange Award (UK-China), together with my collaborator Dr. J. Dong, 2007.

I won the Parliamentary Fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (2006-2007), Westminster, UK.

Volunteer work as a project manager for NESTA SENSE-ational Science Project, 2007

I won Crucible Award from National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) in Feburary, 2005, UK.

I was awarded International Networks for Young Scientist (INYS) Follow-up Funding from British Council in France, Feburary, 2005.

One of my projects (3D imaging of live animal) had been reported on BBC News on 28th November, 2004, while we are selected to take part in a Celebration of UK Research and Innovation Exhibition in London, as part of International Review of UK Engineering Research 2004 by EPSRC.

I was awarded to take part in the Royal Society's MP-Scientists Pairing Scheme, Westminster, London, 2004 - 2005.
